EL PASO, TEXAS 06/05/2002
I would like to take the time and give some random thoughts on Dio and his concert which happenned in El Paso, Tx 06/05/02. Sorry so late. First of all let me say that it has been at least 12 years since Ronnie came to town, so I really cannot complain. It is an honor just to be in the same building with the greatest vocalist ever! It is approximately 06:25 pm when they raise the Killing the Dragon backdrop. A very sharp album cover, maybe the best ever. First the basic stuff out of the way, the show lasted approximately an hour with no encore. As it turns out Deep Purple and the Scorpions played about the same not including their encores. The setlist was unchanged it was exactlly what had been presented here from previous shows. In case you missed it here it goes :Killing the Dragon, Egypt (w/Children of the Sea), Stand up and Shout, Push, Holy Diver, Rock n' Roll, Man on the Silver Mountain (w/Long Live Rock n' Roll), Heaven and Hell, and Rainbow in the Dark. Also included a little drum solo pretty basic except when he plays along classical style music. And pretty guitar solo from Doug. The band sounded great and looked the part. Everyone looked very happy and very healthy. Ronnie is amazing and just keeps on getting better and better. Doug is definitely a keeper! He looks awesome and very cool ! I just hope Ronnie signs him to a long term deal I'd love to see his input to a full album and hopefully many more. He did a masterfull job with all the songs and sounds just as good and maybe better than Vivian?. I am still surprised they played Egypt and not the Last in Line and think the crowd expected the last in line and where somewhat dissapointed . The crowd I think was pretty good. Especially considering our local radio station failed to give DIO equal amount of pub like Deep and Scorps. I actually think I saw more Dio gear. And alot of people buying the 45$ long sleeve Killing.. tour shirt. With the album cover in front and the cities in the back. At one point they ran out and had to get some more from outside. Deep Purple was ok nothing to get wild about, probably the highlight was during the keyboard solo him playing the star wars tune. And Scorps rocked. Can't wait till DIO headlines. On to other stuff :
For the life of me I can't understand why PUSH is the first single. Even though I have to admit the Promo at the Spitfire web sites looks pretty cool. But I belive Push is the worst song on the K.T.D cd. Top 3 worst song of new cd = 1) push, 2) Cold Feet 3) Before the Fall/Along came a Spider. But of course the worst thing Ronnie could ever do is still 10 times better than most crap that is out there today.

Long Live the King of Rock n' Roll !!
