POP'S ST. LOUIS 02/24/2001
The summer of 2001 was my first ever concert. Also being introduced to a band I had never listen to, by a friend named Joe Rollins. I live in Kentucky and the concert was in St. Louis. I went to see the band DIO we drove over 6 hrs to get there. At a place called POPS.
First on Stage was the band Armored Saint, they were not that good. Most of the crowd agreed with me, by yelling for them to get off the stage. Then next was Lynch Mob, I liked them alot better. They have a pretty good sound. I compare them to a slight likeness of Creed. Then finally it was DIO, I was very suprised first of all, in the height of Ronnie James Dio. But, when he started to sing you would think he was 10 feet tall. I stood up front on 2nd row the whole show. With Joe in front of me, singing every word to every song. The crowd as the show went on, kept getting more and more agressive. And almost everyone was singing along with Dio. The music was very good to me. It was all new to me as well. I had only heard some of the music while on the trip to the show. Simon Wright threw out drum sticks & gave Joe one and he gave it to me. So I have that for keeps. Then to top it off Joe had back stage passes for us. I got to go backstage and meet some of the band. Most impotantly I got to meet Ronnie James Dio, got his autograph. And took a picture with him,(which you can see in Fan Pics). Joe was feeling pretty good from the beer and was arguing with Ronnie about the new security he had. Ronnie had taken some banners of Joe's in which he used on stage in Detroit. So he gave them back to him. I took pictures of Joe with different members of band while he got autographs. In all I had a good time at the show.
